The State of the Cybersecurity Workforce and Higher Education

Cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important in today’s digital world, and the need for well-trained cybersecurity professionals is becoming clear - both from the perspective of employers across all industries and sectors, and from that of the general population, who see media coverage of massive data breaches on a near-daily basis. But how do we create a growing, highly-qualified pool of cybersecurity applicants to fill these critical roles? Our survey, The State of the Cybersecurity Workforce and Higher Education, assesses Americans’ opinions on, and awareness of, the cybersecurity field, as well as the role higher education plays in it.

To help address these challenges, Champlain College Online participated in an omnibus survey of over 1,000 U.S. adults, to better understand how cybersecurity is perceived by the general population. Our survey, The State of the Cybersecurity Workforce and Higher Education, Americans’ opinions on, and awareness of, the cybersecurity field, as well as the role higher education plays in it.
