Champlain College Online Ranks in the Top 5 Best Cybersecurity Schools and Programs According to ZDNet

Champlain College Online (CCO) and its 100% online bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity ranked in the top five on ZDNet’s list of the best cybersecurity schools and programs in the United States.

To rate the top universities and colleges that outrank the competition in delivering cutting-edge cybersecurity education, the business technology news website collected data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and College Scorecard datasets. Rankings were based on a series of factors including online cybersecurity degree options, affordable tuition and fees, acceptance rates, graduation rate performance, retention rates, and scholarship opportunities for computer science programs.

"Having our institution and program ranked by ZDNet as one of the top-rated colleges for cybersecurity in the country is an incredible recognition of the effort everyone at Champlain puts into making our degree a world-class online cybersecurity education,” said Sérgio Tenreiro de Magalhães, Ph.D., co-chair of cybersecurity programs at CCO. “Everyone - from staff to faculty - is committed to the success of our adult learners and providing a student-centric, hands-on experience. Students at Champlain are more than a number and we design our courses with student success in mind. We want them to achieve their goals and remain resilient in the ever-changing cyber landscape where they will be making a difference. We could not be more proud of this recognition."

Cybersecurity continues to be an increasingly in-demand field, with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting cyber careers will grow 33% between 2020 and 2030, significantly higher than the average growth for all other fields. The high demand for qualified cyber talent means job opportunities are available in virtually every field and sector, including computer companies, consulting firms, business and financial organizations, the federal government, and more.

Champlain is a nationally recognized leader in cybersecurity and has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the U.S. National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security since 2006. The College is also designated as a National Center of Digital Forensics Academic Excellence by the Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) Air Force Office of Special Investigations - the fifth college in the nation, and the only private college in the country, to receive this distinction.

In CCO’s B.S. in cybersecurity, students gain core technical skills, knowledge of more than 31 key applications, platforms, and programming languages, and essential soft skills like critical thinking and problem-solving. These learning outcomes and program highlights help students stand out in the field, advance their careers, and develop an adaptive edge in today’s increasingly complex and competitive world.
