Balancing School, Work, and Life

You don’t have to choose between your life and your education. Our flexible online format allows you to integrate school on your terms.

Fitting School into a Busy Schedule

No two students have the same schedule, and this is particularly true for online learners, who often have full-time jobs, families, and other responsibilities that they must find a way to balance with school. Because of this, Champlain's online programs offer a high level of flexibility to allow you to fit school into your life.

Flexible Learning

Champlain's classes are all asynchronous, meaning that you are not required to "attend class" at set times. Students have deadlines throughout the week for discussion posts and homework assignments, but you have the freedom to log on and complete your coursework wherever and whenever it's convenient for you.

Accessible Technology

We've built our online classroom to be accessible to people on the go. Access your readings and assignments from your smartphone, your tablet, or your desktop computer - you can log in wherever you have an Internet connection. Students take advantage of this accessible technology during their commutes, while traveling for work, or even in line at the bank!

Online Course Time Commitment

While the amount of time required for each class will vary based on the course material and the instructor, it's helpful to have a sense of how much time you can expect to spend on schoolwork each week in order to plan out your days.

Undergraduate Course Time Commitment

For a typical three-credit undergraduate course, students can expect to spend between 10-17 hours per week, per course on schoolwork, depending on the course length (seven-week vs. ten-week).

Graduate Course Time Commitment

For a typical three-credit graduate course, students can expect to spend between 15-20 hours per week, per course on schoolwork.

For a six-credit graduate course, students can expect to spend 25-30 hours per week, per course.
