Your Champlain College Online Admissions Discovery Call
An initial discovery call with a Champlain admissions counselor is a key component of our admissions process, and a gateway to the career path of your dreams.
Before you begin your application, we recommend you contact our admissions team to set up an informal phone conversation. During this call, your dedicated admissions counselor will want to learn more about your:
- Current job
- Future career goals
- Education history
- Plans for your online education
- Interests
You will be asked important questions about how you're planning to pay for your education and how you'll find time to complete coursework, and we'll help you identify pathways to reaching completion more quickly. If you don't have all the answers when we connect, don't worry. We can share with you how other students created their "plan for success" and help you find the resources you need to make your education a reality.
Most importantly, we will work with you to find the best degree or certificate program to meet your goals. Through the conversation with your admission counselor, you'll determine whether your background and goals match up with your initial program of interest, and will help you understand any steps necessary to pursue that program (such as if there are prerequisites you need to take) or help guide you to another program you hadn't considered.
Making Decisions Along the Way
Champlain specializes in helping our students create personalized academic pathways that align with their unique interests, academic backgrounds, and career goals. Your academic advisor, introduced to you upon acceptance of your offer of admission, will be guiding you and helping you to build your unique pathway throughout your entire academic journey.
Your advisor will work with you to select courses each semester, and can help you make decisions about electives and program certificates. They are able to help you find the quickest path towards a specific objective, and can share new ideas that lead you toward the pursuit of a specialization that you'd never considered before.
Your advisor will also be a valuable resource in helping you manage your course load; they can help you decide on the number of classes you'll take each semester based on how quickly you'd like to finish your degree as well as the other commitments in your life. And should you need to take time away from the program, your advisor can help craft a plan of action for keeping you on track and getting you back into classes when it makes sense for you.
